The Play's the Thing

I think the play's the thing that led to my mental breakdown. When they try to trace back the path that brought me to my final place in the insane asylum - this will be a major stepping stone. I don't have time for relating all the details now, but after many snags in planning we finally made it off to Seattle on 41/2 buses (one wheelchir bus), and four cars.

For those of you who don't remember how uncomfortable school buses are:

We went to Seattle Children's Theatre to see The Red Badge of Courage.
  • Before the show started someone threw gum into a girl's hair - I had to cut it out.
  • When the show started I was still with the gum girl and we couldn't find a seat - ended up standing/sitting on the steps at the back.
  • During the show one of our non-vocal SpEd kids who is wheelchair bound got very excited by it all and began making very loud noises. We ended up having to take him out to the lobby.
  • During intermission I found seats for us - mine was between two very smelly boys. I understood why no one had wanted the seat in the first place.
  • Five minutes into the second half a small projectile launched from our section of the theatre ON TO THE STAGE. I couldn't tell who it had come from.
  • One minute later a second projectile landed on the stage and I began stepping on people to get out and nab the culprit.
  • ANOTHER projectile hit the stage and a chaperone from another school was kind enough to point out the miscreant.
  • After the show the actors made a point of being highly upset at having bits of pencil thrown at them while they were on stage - I was glad they tried to bring the point home to the kid and mortified that he was from our school. A teacher drove him back to the principal's office.
  • Lunch - a lost wallet and girls in too short skirts standing on the second floor of Seattle Center with everyone looking UP at them.
  • The Arcade - fun until a kid shoved a cell phone in my hand and said her mom wanted to talk to me. Aparently mom had forgotten they had an appointment and wanted us to wait in a convenient place for her to pick up her daughter.
  • Bus ride home was fine - just the usual slapping games and way too much sugar.
  • I need sleep.
