John's Back in Town

John arrived in town yesterday after his trip down to the Baja 1000. Hopefully he will let me put some links up to some of his pictures. I guess that's it for the motorcycle - the last hurrah. John will be getting it ready to sell in the next couple of weeks. It's sad that we are quitting that phase of our lives, because it was so much fun, but living and being uninjured is important..so that's it.

We are going to a restaurant for Thanksgiving tomorrow and then to a movie - of course. No tacos this year - we are going to have a real dinner.

Back in Seattle Again

I survived the User's Conference. I enjoyed talking with the clients, learning how they used the products, what problems they had, what they nedded, etc. I didn't enjoy the first two presentations I did, but the last one was good. I also learned a lot about our company that I didn't know before.

So much for sunny Florida - I spent all day in the hotel and at night was going over presentations so I missed the party scene. The food was fabulous , there was a band, and even fireworks, and there was plenty to drink. Aparently a few people (clients) ended up in the pool in their clothes - and then took them off. Glad I wan't around for that part.

On the plane there was a guy in cruiser style motorcycle boots who had a fitted leather motorcycle jacket on.
"I noticed your jacket - what do you ride?" I asked.
"What?" he said. I thought maybe he hadn't heard me so I repeated.
"What do you ride?"
"Ride?" he asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"Sorry," I said - realization dawning late due to being over tired, "I assumed you rode a motorcycle because of your jacket and boots."
"Oh, yeah," said Mr. Poser, "I used to, but it rains a lot in Seattle." I guess poser boy thought that I couldn't possibly know what I talking about anyway (I was still in my suit and heels looking very corporate).
"Ah, yeah," I said, "I wrecked my 650GS and broke both of my arms in July." Poser boy looked confused. He didn't know what to say. He had been outed by a chick in a suit! He nodded his head and looked down and said nothing else for the rest of the 4 hour plane ride. Good thing he was on the other side of the aisle and could ignore me. It was quite strange.

So Long and Thanks for all the....

Yeah, I know, I never update my blog. That's because I am so busy that I can't fit it all into my brain, much less my bolg. I am in Orlando in a hotel right now. I am here for a users conference with my company. Over 800 clients and 120 company employees. I have to give 2 presentations - makes me very nervous.

Wondering about the title? I turned in a letter of resignation yesterday. Yeah. I have made a deal to go contract with my company after January 15th so I can travel around with John and do ...whatever. I will still be developing materials and flying of to who knows where to train clients, but on a much more limited basis and from wherever I happen to be. Pretty sweet deal. But right now - I have so much to do I can hardly think.

John is in Seattle! He is visiting while the folks at Iron Horse BMW in Tucson fix his motorcycle. He is going to be part of a pit crew for independent motorcycle riders during the Baja 1000 November 16-18. Right now we are hoping that the parts the dealer needs from Germany arrive in time for John to get to Mexico on time.

Thanksgiving - in Seattle I think. I was in Ireland last week, Orlando this week, Toronto next, Dallas the week after that, and Chicago the week following Thanksgiving. I just want to not fly anywhere for a week. Trying to convince John to come back up and join me. One good thing about flying so much is all of the airmiles lets him come visit quite cheaply. $5 and 20,000 miles on Alaska. :)

Have to go to bed. I arrived on the red eye and am a walking zombie - and I have a meeting at 7AM.
